What does IP68 mean for a cable gland?

IP68 under IEC 60529 means the gland is dust-tight (6) and protected against continuous immersion in water (8) under conditions agreed between manufacturer and user. The rating is only valid when the cable outer diameter sits inside the gland's stated clamping range and the cap nut is tightened to the recommended torque.

Should I choose a metal or nylon cable gland?

Nylon PA66 glands are lightweight, corrosion-free and cost-effective for control cabinets, lighting and general outdoor equipment. Nickel-plated brass or stainless steel glands are preferred where you need mechanical strength, EMC shielding, higher vibration resistance, fire performance or exposure to oils, salt spray and UV.

Which thread standards do HOONSUN cable glands support?

HOONSUN supplies cable glands in Metric (M), PG, NPT and G (BSPP) threads. Thread length can be specified to match enclosure wall thickness, and custom thread forms are available for OEM projects.

Can HOONSUN produce custom or OEM cable glands?

Yes. As an in-house manufacturer since 2006, HOONSUN customizes thread type, thread length, seal material, clamping range, plating, colour and private-label packaging for OEM and distributor programs.

What certifications do HOONSUN cable glands carry?

Standard HOONSUN cable gland ranges are produced to CE and UL requirements with IP68 sealing performance. Test reports and certificate copies are supplied with the product catalog or on request for each specific part number.
